Lauren Davies

LAUREN DAVIES graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge with both an Honours degree and a Masters degree in Law.  She worked as a corporate solicitor in London before following her dream to become a writer. 

Lauren is an authority on surfing and wrote the script for award-winning surf documentary WAVERIDERS.  The film won the coveted Dublin International Film Festival Audience Award 2008, the Celtic Film Festival 2009, the Beloit Festival (USA) 2009, the Outstanding Contribution to Film-making Award, an IFTA for best feature documentary 2009 and most recently the American SURFER POLL Award for best documentary 2009 – the first European winner of such an accolade.  WAVERIDERS opened in theatres throughout Ireland and the UK and is now available on DVD.  Following screenings at the LA Irish Film Festival and the New York Surf Film Festival, an American release is planned for 2010. 

Lauren’s latest film CLOUD 9 written for Quiksilver about the 9-times world surfing champion, Kelly Slater, premiered in June and is currently touring Europe before its worldwide television release.

Under the name LAUREN McCROSSAN, Lauren has published three bestselling novels with Time Warner paperbacks, most recently the Irish romantic comedy WATER WINGS.  Her first bestselling novel SERVE COOL, based in Newcastle, reached the top ten debut novels of the year in 2001.  Her second novel ANGEL ON AIR was long-listed for the Romantic Novelists Association romantic comedy of the year in 2003.  The books are translated into Russian, Polish and Croatian. 

Lauren has just completed a fourth book SWELL and is working on a new romantic comedy novel as well as an Internet television drama series and the much-anticipated film adaptation of WATER WINGS.
